.....who like many Indonesians, goes by one name....

How many times have you read that phrase these days? After the earthquake, there are hundreds of news about Indonesia everyday. And everytime they quote something from an Indonesian, they put "goes by one name". I dunno whether the fact that it is still a custom in many part in Indonesia (especially Javanese) is amusing, or it is just because it can be considered unprofessional for a journalist to not showing someone's full name? Beats me. But I still think that it's weird that all these profesional journalist keep repeating that phrase.
